What information is needed to configure a plastic extrusion line?
Start with the finished product, polymer, diameter or profile dimensions, wall thickness, applicable standard, target output, factory voltage and destination. For pipe projects, include the full size list and pressure or SDR class. These inputs determine the extruder, die, cooling length, haul-off, cutter and auxiliary equipment.
How is extrusion-line output capacity calculated?
Output is evaluated in kilograms per hour and must be checked against the finished product size and line speed. Screw diameter, motor power, material formulation, die resistance, cooling capacity and downstream stability all affect usable output. A quoted maximum should therefore be confirmed for the buyer's actual material and product range.
Which extruder is used for PVC, PE and PPR pipe?
Rigid PVC normally uses a conical or parallel twin-screw extruder because the compound is heat-sensitive and needs controlled plasticizing. PE and PPR normally use single-screw extruders. Screw design, L/D ratio and drive power are then selected for the resin grade, pipe range and required capacity.
What equipment is included in a complete pipe production line?
A typical line includes material feeding, the main extruder, optional co-extruder, pipe die, vacuum calibration tank, spray cooling tanks, haul-off, printer, cutter and stacker or coiler. Mixers, crushers, pulverizers, chillers, air compressors and belling machines can be added according to the material and finished-pipe process.
Can one extrusion line produce several pipe diameters?
Yes, when the selected extruder and downstream equipment cover the required range. Each diameter normally needs a matched die and calibration sleeve, and large changes may require different haul-off, cutter or tank arrangements. Buyers should provide the complete diameter and wall-thickness schedule before the line is sized.
How should a buyer compare extrusion-line quotations?
Compare the guaranteed product range, reference output for the specified material, motor and gearbox, screw and barrel material, electrical brands, tank length, haul-off force, cutter type, included moulds, auxiliary equipment, testing scope, documentation, installation support and exclusions. Comparing only total price can hide major configuration differences.
Can HUADEMAC test the line before shipment?
The agreed machine configuration can be assembled and tested before shipment. The test scope, material availability, target product and acceptance points should be written into the technical agreement. Buyers can request running records, product samples, images or video as part of the acceptance process.
What factory utilities are needed for installation?
Requirements commonly include three-phase power at the confirmed voltage and frequency, process cooling water, compressed air, drainage, lifting equipment and enough workshop length for the complete line. Is installation and operator training available overseas?
Installation guidance, commissioning and operator training can be planned according to the project and destination. Scope, travel conditions, local labor, utilities, material readiness and service costs should be confirmed in the contract so both teams can prepare before the engineer arrives.
How long does it take to manufacture an extrusion line?
Lead time depends on line size, custom dies, electrical configuration, auxiliary equipment and the factory production schedule. A standard line is normally faster than a large-diameter or multi-layer project. The confirmed delivery period should begin after technical approval and receipt of the agreed payment.
What spare parts should be prepared with a new line?
Typical commissioning and maintenance spares include heaters, thermocouples, contactors, relays, seals, bearings, cutting blades and application-specific wear parts. Screw and barrel wear depends strongly on fillers, recycled material and operating conditions, so the recommended list should match the actual formulation.
How can I request an accurate extrusion-line quotation?
Send the product drawing or pipe standard, material, size and wall-thickness range, target capacity, voltage, destination and any preferred component brands. Photos of the intended product and factory layout are also useful. The engineering team can then prepare a line configuration instead of a generic machine list.
